What is Pu-erh Tea?

Pu-erh tea is taken from the stems and leaves of the plant Camellia sinensis. This is a similar plant used for making oolong, green and black teas. Although a similar plant source is used, these different teas are done by different processes used. After harvesting is finished, there are two stages involved in processing the pu-erh tea.

Throughout the first process, tea leaves are being prepared the same as green tea. Throughout the next stage, the leaves go through a fermentation process and then lengthen storage, also known as “aging”. A Pu-erh tea that has been aged well for a very long period of time would taste better than the usual one.
