How to Cook Tapioca Pearls?
Many people want to make pearl milk tea at home through DIY, but they lack the proper method to cook it. Now, I am going to share the authentic pearl-cooking technique from a milk tea shop with everyone, so that you can make pearls that are both soft and chewy.
Here are the steps to cook tapioca pearls:
Step 1: First, add hot water to a pot and heat it to boiling temperature.
Step 2: Once the water is boiling, add the tapioca pearls to the pot. Immediately stir them thoroughly & evenly to prevent the tapioca pearls from sticking together or to the bottom of the pot.
Step 3: After stirring the tapioca pearls, adjust the heat to medium and cook for 25 minutes without covering the pot. Be sure to stir the tapioca pearls evenly every 3-5 minutes during this process.
Step 4: After 25 minutes, turn off the heat and cover the pot to let the tapioca pearls to steam for another 25 minutes. Do not stir during this time.
Step 5: After steaming, remove the lid and use a fine-mesh strainer to drain the tapioca pearls.
Step 6: Rinse the strained tapioca pearls by placing them to a bowl of drinking water, and then strain them one more time.
Step 7: Finally, pour the rinsed tapioca pearls in a container and add an appropriate amount of sugar syrup and warm water to soak them (for 500 grams of tapioca pearls, add 40 grams of sugar syrup and 150 milliliters of drinking water).
