The Story of Jinjunmei Black Tea

Jin Jun Mei , literally call”golden eyebrow”,   was first invented in 2005. The whole story goes in this way.

Before 2005, Lapsang black tea was mainly exporting outside of China. And the picking standard was one bud with two/three leaves, then cut into 0.5-0.8cm length size black tea and exported outside.

Two tea connoisseur of Chinese, who travlled all around China to search good tea was first impressed by the landscape of Tongmu village, which is a natural reserved areas in China. Tongmu’s landscape is very natural, beautiful and forest. Tea trees growing here is also wild-growing under such wonderful nature, without using pesticid, and no one to take care of the tea trees like any other places.  But the two connoisseur was quite disoppointed by the black teas quality here, as there was one any tea buds black tea. In China, buds tea have always been regarded as highest quality, which we can see in Longjing, Maojian, silver needle and others.

So the two connoisseur proposed an idea in 2005 to Mr. Liang Junde, who was still working as production manager in Lapsang Tea Company in Tongmu before.

The proposal was, the two connoisseur purchased 0.75kg fresh one bud leaves in Tongmu and asked Mr. Liang to help him to produce one bud lapang black tea by hand. The finished one bud black tea is slightly curly, with lot of golden hair and blooming. So they named it as Jin Jun Mei(Jin refers to gold, Jun is the middle name of Liang Junde, Mei refers to the shape of tea similar to eyebrow.).

Can’t wait sipping a cup of such lovely tea!!
